Is Spotify down right now?

Spotify is working

This reflects our latest automated server check together with what users have reported recently — it is a community signal, not an official company announcement.

No user reports for Spotify in the last 24 hours — usually a sign that everything is running normally.

Our automated checks run from our own monitoring server and test the public website — they can miss problems that only appear inside the mobile app or after you sign in. The status on this page also reflects recent user reports, so read it as a community signal rather than an official announcement from the company.

About Spotify

Spotify is a streaming service tracked in our directory (spotify.com). Buffering in the evening is often congestion rather than an outage — try lowering the video quality first.

Fix it yourself

Five quick things to try before concluding Spotify is down.

  1. Hard-refresh the page — press Ctrl+Shift+R (Cmd+Shift+R on Mac) so Spotify loads a fresh copy instead of a stale cached one.
  2. Switch your connection — move between Wi-Fi and mobile data to rule out a local network problem.
  3. Try incognito mode — a broken browser extension or corrupted cookies can stop Spotify from loading while it works fine for everyone else.
  4. Swap the app and the website — if the app fails, try the website (or the other way round) to see whether the problem is limited to one platform.
  5. Wait it out — if our live check also fails, the fault sits on Spotify’s servers and usually resolves on its own; check back in 15–30 minutes.

Frequently asked questions

Is Spotify down today?
The live check above tests whether Spotify's servers are reachable. But most streaming complaints turn out to be buffering from a slow connection rather than a real outage — run a speed test before concluding the service is down.
Why is Spotify buffering so much?
Drop the video quality a notch, close background downloads, and restart your router. Evening hours are the most congested, and some ISPs throttle video traffic at peak times — a speed test during buffering tells you the truth.
Spotify videos won't play at all. What do I do?
Clear the app or browser cache, make sure the app is updated, and temporarily disable any VPN or ad-blocker, which are common culprits. If it fails on one device, try another to isolate the problem.
Why does Spotify keep logging me out?
This usually happens when you exceed the device limit, change your password, or have corrupted cookies. Sign out everywhere from your account settings, clear cookies, and sign back in on your main device.
Is Spotify down for everyone or just me?
Look at the report graph above — if reports are spiking across many cities, it is widespread. A flat graph with only your complaint means the issue is local to your connection or device.
